1.自我介紹
Hello, my name is Michael Christopher Jerrell, and I’m currently a first-year master’s student at National Taiwan University, majoring in Chemical Engineering. I completed my bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering at National Tsing Hua University in 2024.
I’m originally from Indonesia and proud to be an international student here in Taiwan. Having grown up in an English-speaking environment and attended an international school, I have been studying English since kindergarten and speak it fluently. Additionally, I have been learning Chinese from a young age—starting in kindergarten—so I’m also quite fluent in Mandarin, which has helped me adapt smoothly to life and studies in Taiwan.

我來自 印尼,是一位 國際學生。從幼兒園開始,我就接觸並學習 中文,因此中文口說相當流利。另一方面,我也從小在 英語環境中成長,就讀於國際學校,從幼兒園開始就學習英文,因此也能夠熟練地使用英文進行溝通與學術表達。
2.專業背景
I have been learning Chinese and English since kindergarten. I attended an international school, where I received extensive training in both languages through both formal classes and extracurricular courses. This bilingual foundation has enabled me to develop strong communication skills and cultural adaptability.
In terms of Chinese proficiency, I have passed the HSK (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi) Level 4 and Level 5 exams, scoring 285 out of 300 on HSK 4 and 186 out of 300 on HSK 5, demonstrating solid reading, writing, and comprehension skills. For English proficiency, I obtained an IELTS score of 8.0 out of 9.0 and a TOEIC score of 970 out of 990, reflecting a high level of fluency across academic and professional domains.
In addition to language learning, I have gained valuable experience in English teaching. In 2023, during my junior year of university, I joined the ELTA (English Language Teaching Assistant) Program. That year, I was assigned to Xinpu Junior High and Fenggang Elementary School. In my senior year, I continued in the program and was assigned to Fenggang Junior High, Fenggang Elementary, and Zhubei Renai Elementary School, where I taught for a full academic year. After moving to National Taiwan University for my master’s studies, I continued participating in the ELTA Program and began teaching in Taipei, including Guting Junior High and Wanfu Elementary School. I have been assigned to continue teaching at Wanfu Elementary School for the upcoming semester.
In these schools, I taught English classes and supported bilingual instruction in subjects such as Physical Education, Art, and Music. I also actively contributed to designing English activities and games for winter and summer camps, promoting interactive learning. Beyond institutional teaching, I have also worked as a private tutor since 2023, teaching three elementary school students and one junior high school student in personalized, one-on-one settings.
我從幼兒園開始學習中文與英文,並就讀於國際學校,在校內外都接受了大量的語言訓練。這樣的學習環境使我能夠在兩種語言間靈活切換,具備良好的語言表達能力與跨文化溝通技巧。
在中文能力方面,我已通過漢語水平考試(HSK)第四級與第五級,分別取得**285/300(HSK4)與186/300(HSK5)**的成績,展現出我在閱讀、寫作與理解方面的紮實基礎。
在英文能力方面,我取得**IELTS 雅思 8.0(滿分 9.0)與TOEIC 多益 970(滿分 990)**的優異成績,證明我在學術與職場情境中的英語聽說讀寫能力皆達到高水準。
自 2023 年大三開始,我加入了英語教學助理計畫(ELTA Program),開始我的英語教學經驗。第一年我被分派至新埔國中與鳳岡國小進行教學。大四期間,我繼續參與該計畫,但被分配到不同的學校,包括鳳岡國中、鳳岡國小與竹北仁愛國小,並在這些學校教學持續了一整學年。升上碩士後,我就讀於國立臺灣大學,並持續參加 ELTA 計畫,在臺北的古亭國中與萬福國小任教,且於下一學期仍會繼續在萬福國小擔任英語教學助理。
在這些學校中,我除了教授英語課程外,也協助教授雙語課程,例如體育、美術與音樂課。此外,我也積極參與寒暑假英語營隊活動與遊戲設計,增進學生的學習興趣與參與度。
除了在學校任教之外,我從 2023 年起也開始擔任私人家教老師,至今已教過三位國小學生與一位國中學生,提供一對一的客製化教學服務。
3.服務方式
offer flexible teaching options based on the student’s needs. Classes can be held at the student’s home, at a mutually agreed location, or online, to provide the most convenient and comfortable learning environment.
In terms of content, I primarily focus on the materials provided by the student, helping them understand school content, prepare for exams, and improve their performance. If students need additional learning resources, I am also able to prepare supplementary materials tailored to their learning goals.
My teaching approach aims not only to help students achieve better test results, but also to strengthen their overall English proficiency, with a focus on the following areas:
Vocabulary building – introducing and reinforcing useful and commonly used English words
Grammar and usage – clearly explaining grammar rules and helping students apply them through practice
Speaking and communication – creating an English-speaking environment to help students become more fluent and confident in real-life conversations
Since I do not have a motorcycle license, I commute using public transportation such as the MRT and bus. I currently live in Yonghe, and my university is National Taiwan University. Therefore, I hope the teaching location is not too far and is accessible by public transport.
我提供彈性的教學安排,可以依照學生的需求選擇上課地點,包括到府教學、在特定地點會面,或是線上上課,以提供最方便舒適的學習體驗。
課程內容方面,我會以學生提供的教材為主要教學內容,協助他們理解課堂內容、準備考試並提升成績。如果學生有需要,我也能準備額外的補充教材,以配合學生的學習進度與目標。
我的教學不僅著重在提升學生的考試表現,更希望幫助他們全方面強化英語能力,特別是在以下幾個面向:
單字學習:建立實用且常見的英文詞彙庫
文法與用法:清楚講解英文文法,並透過練習幫助學生實際應用
口語與溝通:營造英語對話環境,提升學生用英文自信溝通的能力
因為我沒有機車駕照,所以我會以大眾運輸工具(捷運、公車)通勤。目前我住在永和區,就讀於國立臺灣大學,因此希望授課地點不要太遠,並且交通方便,可搭乘捷運或公車到達。

5.來往客戶
I hope to establish a long-term teaching relationship, possibly for a year or even longer. However, I am also very flexible and open-minded. If students or parents feel that my teaching method does not fully meet their expectations or needs, I am more than willing to make adjustments to better align with their learning goals and preferences.
Now, I am currently teaching in Wanfu Elementary School and have a private tutor with 3 different elementary students in Qizhang and Nanjing FuXing
我希望能夠與學生建立長期的教學關係,或許能持續一年甚至更久。不過,我也非常彈性且樂於溝通,如果學生或家長覺得我的教學方式不完全符合他們的期待或需求,我也會樂意配合並做出調整,以更符合他們的學習目標與方向。
我目前在萬福國小任教,並擔任三位國小學生的私人家教,地點分別在七張與南京復興。
6.案例分享
One of my most satisfying English tutoring experiences was with a fifth-grade elementary school student. At first, he wasn’t very interested in English and lacked confidence, especially when it came to speaking. To help him, I designed interactive lessons such as role-plays, vocabulary games, and topics related to his interests—like introducing his favorite cartoons or sports in English.
After a few months, his school performance improved significantly, but what made me happiest was his growing confidence. He started speaking English more actively in class, even preparing his own questions to ask me. His parents also noticed a big change in his attitude—he went from resisting English to genuinely enjoying it. Seeing that transformation was truly rewarding and reminded me why I love teaching.
我最滿意的一次英文家教經驗是教一位國小五年級的學生。剛開始上課時,他對英文沒有太大興趣,也缺乏自信,尤其在口說表達上比較害羞。於是我設計了互動性較高的課程內容,例如角色扮演、單字遊戲以及與他興趣相關的主題練習,像是用英文介紹他喜歡的卡通或運動。
經過幾個月的教學,他不但在學校英文成績進步明顯,更重要的是他開始主動用英文與我對話,甚至會自己準備問題來問我。家長也表示孩子變得更有自信,對英文的態度也從抗拒變成了喜歡。這樣的轉變讓我非常感動,也讓我更有動力繼續幫助其他學生發現學英文的樂趣。
7.專業建議
When choosing an English tutor, it’s important to consider their language proficiency, such as IELTS or TOEIC scores, and their teaching experience with students at different levels. A good tutor should be flexible and able to adjust their teaching style based on the student’s needs. You should also understand the tutor’s teaching goals—whether they focus on test prep, daily conversation, or overall fluency. In addition, a tutor’s personality and communication skills matter a lot; they should be patient and create a positive learning environment. Finally, make sure the tutor’s schedule and location are convenient for you, whether it’s in-person or online.
在挑選英文家教時,建議注意老師的英文程度(如 IELTS 或 TOEIC 成績)以及是否有教學經驗。一位好的老師應該能夠因材施教,根據學生的需求調整上課方式。了解老師的教學方向(例如考試準備、口說練習或提升整體英文能力)是否符合學生目標也很重要。此外,老師的個性與溝通能力也不可忽視,耐心、有親和力的老師能營造良好的學習氛圍。最後,請確認老師的時間安排與地點是否方便,無論是實體課還是線上課程。
