1.自我介紹
My name is Hui-Ying Shih, and I was born on January 9th, 1997, in Kaohsiung, southern Taiwan. When I was little, I developed my interest in teaching and taking care of my two little sisters, and therefore, after I entered college, I participated in Club Society, holding various camps and activities for children in elementary schools. During my club period, I learned basic concepts to design activities for children and also learned how to deal with the problems, and the experience helped me a lot when I became an intern in elementary school.
In my first junior semester, I interned at Tung Kuang Elementary School, which was my first time to teach students practically. I was impressed that there were many problems among children, families, and school, including the lack of caring, learning resources and so on. My partner and I made efforts to solve these problems by making stories or adding movements into vocabulary to make them easier for our students to memorize. In that semester, I benefited a lot in teaching skills and problem solving, and it was the changes in my students that brought me a sense of accomplishment, and I decided to devote myself to improving children’s inferior situations and learning environment.
To expand the realms from Taiwan to foreign countries, I know how important my English abilities are. When I majored in Foreign Languages and Literature at National Chi Nan University, I trained my logic and analysis through literatures classes. Besides, I acquired basic lingual knowledge and teaching materials and planning. Because of my hard work and enthusiasm, I got the opportunity to graduate earlier and also earned the golden certification of TOEIC score 890. During my study in college, I participated in different activities such as camps and graduation drama, and these not only made my life more interesting but also trained my abilities in leadership and teamwork.
I believe that the purpose of knowledge and abilities is to help others, and this is how I get happiness from my career. I hope that I can develop my values and bring others happiness, and I will keep learning in different fields to be a person able to influence and improve the environment of vulnerable communities.
