I like to smile and I like to laugh. My family refers to me as "happy girl" in Chinese because I bring joy to others around me. I am easy to talk to, a good listener and patient particularly with young children and the elderly. I enjoy helping others even if I don't know them. Sometimes I have difficulty refusing people when they ask me to do something as I like to please. My mother thinks that I always put the needs of others before my own needs and feels that sometimes I should think about myself. I like to be compassionate to all living things, especially animals. For instance, during my mission trip, I came across animals that people were careful about as some of them had skin diseases. I was not ********id to touch them and to show them some love. I am always optimistic and believe that all problems have solutions. I am proud of my ability to play musical instruments. I started to play percussion instruments when I was four years old. I also learned to play the piano. Music helps me to relax and focus. I always sing in the shower much to the annoyance of my family.My mother comes from a Christian family. I learned about the faith through her. Last year, I was baptized and then began a spiritual relationship with God. Faith is very important to me. Being a Christian is a part of my life no matter what I do or where I go. When I have problems. I feel I can communicate with God who listens and silently gives advice. I attended a mission trip organized by my school to Utah last March. The purpose for this trip was to work with the Navajo people in Monument Valley. I assisted in many areas such as painting, construction, delivering cooking classes as well as organizing activities for the children such as Bible study classes. I have never painted houses in my life before because I was always worried I would stain my clothes! I also have an allergy as well. It was very challenging for me to complete this task, but I felt a sense of accomplishment after I had done so. I also joined some entertaining activities such as horseback riding, climbing up a lot of cliffs and selling hay. It was an adventurous experience .Moreover, there were many kinds of animals such as dogs and horses in Utah. I am a lover of animals. I love to be around them. I had to sleep in the attic while I was in Monument Valley. At night I could see the stars through the skylights. I was not able to take a shower everyday because there were only two washrooms in the cabin. During this mission trip, I learned a lot about life while living closely with the Navajo people. I also became more courageous and confident.
